Your holiday is booked, the countdown is on and now it’s time to get yourself holiday-ready! From glowing skin to lifted lashes, planning your beauty appointments in advance can help ensure you look and feel your best before you travel.
To make things easier, we’ve created the ultimate pre-holiday beauty checklist, including when you should book each treatment.
Two to Three Weeks Before: Book Your Facial
A professional facial is the perfect way to prepare your skin for your holiday. It can help improve hydration, brighten your complexion and leave your skin looking refreshed.
We recommend booking your facial around two weeks before travelling, particularly if you are trying a new treatment. This gives your skin plenty of time to settle and allows you to enjoy the full results on holiday.
If you regularly receive the same gentle, hydrating facial and know how your skin responds, you may prefer to book it a few days before travelling.
Remember to protect your skin with a broad-spectrum SPF every day, especially after a facial and while you’re away.
One Week Before: Book Your Waxing Appointment
Try to schedule your waxing appointment approximately three to five days before travelling. This allows any redness, sensitivity or irritation to settle before your skin is exposed to sun, heat, swimming pools or seawater.
After waxing, avoid hot baths, saunas, swimming, intense exercise and fragranced products for the period recommended by your therapist. Loose, comfortable clothing can also help prevent irritation.
If it’s your first time having a particular area waxed, consider booking slightly earlier in case your skin needs additional time to settle.
Three to Five Days Before: LVL or Lash Lift
An LVL or lash lift is a brilliant low-maintenance treatment for holidays. It lifts and enhances your natural lashes, helping your eyes appear brighter without the need for mascara or lash curlers.
We recommend booking your appointment around three to five days before travelling. This leaves time for the treatment to settle while keeping your lashes looking fresh throughout your holiday.
A patch test is normally required before your appointment, so don’t leave your booking until the last minute. Follow the exact timing provided by the clinic and avoid getting your lashes wet or exposing them to steam for the recommended period after treatment.
The Day Before: Keep It Simple
The day before travelling isn’t the time to experiment with new treatments or products. Focus on gentle skincare, apply a nourishing moisturiser and drink plenty of water.
Double-check that you have packed your holiday essentials, including:
- Broad-spectrum SPF for your face and body
- Lip balm with SPF
- Gentle cleanser
- Hydrating moisturiser
- After-sun or soothing body lotion
- Sunglasses and a sun hat
